United Way: Mobilizing Communities for a Thriving Future

For 95 years, United Way of Whitman County has been a steadfast presence in Pullman, committed to the power of collective action for lasting change. True to our founding spirit, we are here whenever our community needs us, actively listening and responding to local needs with a comprehensive, compassionate approach.

Through the United Way network, spanning tens of thousands of communities, we can share innovative solutions and scale impact to improve lives worldwide—

and right here in our own Palouse.

Whether strengthening local resilience, advancing health, expanding youth opportunities, or building pathways to financial security, we are dedicated to creating a future where everyone in our community can reach its full potential.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION
STATEMENT

We take the broadest possible view of diversity.

We value the visible and invisible qualities that make you who you are.

We welcome that every person brings a unique perspective and experience to advance our mission and progress our fight for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in every community.

We believe that each United Way community member, donor, volunteer, advocate, and employee must have equal access to solving community problems. We strive to include diversity, equity, and inclusion practices at the center of our daily work. We commit to using these practices for our business and our communities.

WHERE YOUR MONEY GOES

WIDE REACH -- United Way is the best way to reach the most people with your charitable donations. Through our network of local youth, health, and social services agencies, your gifts help provide essential programs in our community. United Way provides vital "unrestricted funds" to our partnering organizations. These resources create stop-gaps that no other entity supports/ So your gift ensures a safety net of services here in Whitman County.

WISE INVESTMENT -- United Way keeps administrative costs to a minimum. That means we put more of your money where you want it to go -- to help those who need it most. In recent years, 85% of the funds we raised were allocated to Palouse area agencies, while 10 percent paid for fund-raising costs and 5 percent for our local administrative costs. Your partnership means our partners are free to focus on meeting vital needs throughout our communities.

Let's Live United

RESULTS EXPECTED -- To become a United Way agency, local organizations must demonstrate how they provide vital services to the people of Pullman and Whitman County in the vital areas of Youth Opportunity, Access to Health Services, Financial Security, and Community Resiliency.

Each year, an all-volunteer committee from United Way evaluates each agency's mission, purpose, and impact and makes recommendations for funding based on the agency's results and plans for the coming year.

YOUR INTERESTS -- Nearly all of your contributions to the United Way of Whitman County stay local and work toward building long-term impacts and ensuring a brighter future for all.
